New Fairport Duck Race signs are up on Fairport's historic Lift Bridge.

They mark the spot where 5,000 little rubber ducks will plunge into the Erie Canal at 3 p.m. June 6 at Fairport Canal Days, one of the largest arts-and-crafts festivals in the Northeast.

Participants have a chance to win $25,000 or several other — more than $15,000 worth — donated prizes including Fairport shopping sprees ranging from $600 to $1,500, a Kodak home photo electronics package valued at $750, a Saturday overnight with brunch for two at Woodcliff Hotel & Spa and more than 100 “instant” prizes.

Adopt-a-duck tickets are $5 each, five for $20 or $50 for 13, a “Quacker’s Dozen.” They're on sale at Fairport shops and local businesses, in and around the village, displaying the conspicuous Fairport Duck-Ticket emblem in their windows. Only 5,000 will be sold.

They're also available at the Fairport Public Library, Perinton Town Hall and Community Center and Bank of America branches in Fairport, Penfield and Webster.

A limited number of tickets, if any are left, will also be sold at the duck race booth which will be open all weekend at the event. Proceeds from the duck race will benefit the Fairport-Perinton Senior Living Council and Senior Options for Independence. Ticket holders need not be present to win.

The event is co-sponsored by the Fairport-Perinton Merchants Association, Bank of America and local merchants donating prizes. For more information, visit the Web site www.fairportcanaldays.com or call Fairport Duck Race coordinator David Semple at 223-8369. Also, follow Fairport Duck Race on Facebook.

The duck drop and race culminates the annual Fairport Canal Days festival which begins June 4.
