Casa Larga Vineyards came away from the New York State Fair with seven medals for wine-making excellence.

The winery’s Vidal Blanc Ice Wine took the double gold medal and was named the Best Dessert Wine in the Fair’s Commercial Wine Competition.

Three other Casa Larga wines — Chardonnay NV, Riesling and Lilac Hill NV 2008 — won silver medals. Its Reserve Riesling, Pinot Noir and Tre Blanc were awarded bronze medals.

The competition was held prior to the Fair, which will run from Aug. 26 to Sept. 6 at the fairgrounds in Syracuse.

Winning entries will be featured at the Fair and will be available for tasting.

Only New York wines were considered for the State Fair’s competition.
