Actress to portray Flannery O'Connor March 1-3 in Fairport

Actress Gretchen Woodworth will play the role of southern author Flannery O'Connor in a one-woman show, “I ... Write to Discover ...” at Spotlight Theater Arts in Fairport.

Flannery O'Connor was a darkly comic writer of many short stories and two novels whose short life spanned from 1925-1964. She was devoutly Catholic and Southern, and both came across in her writing.

The play will detail her thoughts on writing, and the story of her life in a show compiled by Ed Scutt from Flannery's letters, stories, and novels.

Performances will run March 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. and March 4 at 2 p.m. at Spotlight, located at 3 Railroad St. in the village. The play is directed by Joan VanNess.
