It's summer time, and the staff at Donnelly's Public House decided to take a 16-day trip without leaving town.

Some customers got confused when they saw daily Facebook updates on the pub's page that showed daily updates with photos from breweries in other states.

But this was all part of an effort to educate people about beer, and the places where some of the best brew is made.

"We didn't really go on a trip, but it was completely conceivable that we did," said owner Scott Donnelly. "The goal of our marketing was to engage people, and have fun with it."

The "trip" lasted 16 days and included stops at nine different breweries across the U.S. Whenever they "stopped" at a brewery, Donnelly's offered a special on the featured beer.

The beer trip photos were simply pulled from the web, and each of the destinations was featured at the pub with a special on the given beer.

Destinations included famous breweries in places like Minnesota, Wahsington, Oregon, and Colorado.

The last update on July 31 read: "Safe at home, back in Fairport where we started our ramble 16 days ago."

If given the chance, Donnelly said he'd jump at the opportunity to take a real beer trip in the near future.

"I'm hoping that becomes my full-time job," he joked. "I could be the wandering beer rogue."
