A working fire caused extensive damage to Compane Brick Oven Bistro and the adjacent buildings at 66 North Main St. in Fairport on Jan 1.
According to Fairport Fire Chief John Welker said fire crews responded to the scene shortly after 3 a.m. when smoke caused the alarm to deactivate.
It took several hours to extinguish the blaze, as crews stayed at the scene until 11 a.m. East Rochester, Brighton, Egypt, Bushnell's Basin, Webster, and Brighton fire departments also responded.
No one was injured and the cause has been deemed accidental, Welker said, although it is still under investigation.
The building next to the restaurant also had damage to the roof.
Compane is an Italian restaurant serving specialty wood fired pizza. It opened its doors in August, 2010. Fairport at 80 North Main St.
Restaurant owner Guido Cristofori declined to comment.
