East Rochester is now home to a new art gallery, boutique and creative space designed to bring local artists and art enthusiasts together.
It can be easy to miss Art and Vintage on Main if you’re not looking. It’s a brick building on Main Street that sits across the street from Prince George’s.
One step inside the door, however, reveals an expansive display of edgy paintings, photography, sculpture, and even jewelry.
It’s not just a place to see art, but to also buy unique pieces from up and coming artists in the Rochester area.
“I want it to be a sort of factory for creation where aspiring collectors can come,” said director Rosa Arnone, of Pittsford.
Her parents Lyn and Joe bought the historical building in 2002 with plans to convert it into a gallery with rented studio space upstairs.
The dream didn’t come to fruition until this year, when the owners were compensated with grant funding to complete the renovations. It officially opened in June.
Now, visitors can see original work from 21 different artists on display — from splatter paintings to unique “wall art” made from dissembled furniture, as the gallery becomes a breath of fresh air for the young and creative.
Said Arnone, “Everyone was excited at the opportunity put their work somewhere new."
