The 2012 Monroe County Fair kicks off July 11 and runs through July 15.

Three event highlights
1 Among the offerings at the annual fair are fair food, contests, carnival rides and local farm animals. Entertainment includes Artist Aerial performers, horse shows and talent shows.
2 The fair’s nightlife features local and regional entertainment on the Monster Energy Stage, as well as motor sports in the grandstand.
3 The theme of the fair is “What Monroe County makes — what makes Monroe County?,” a celebration of the region’s rich history of agriculture, innovation, technology and commerce.

HOURS July 11 and 12, 4 p.m. to closing; July 13, noon to closing, recreation centers admitted at 10:30 a.m. with rides open; July 14 and 15, noon to closing
