This home, 100 West Church St., was built by Nelson Lewis in 1878, a mid-century Victorian farmhouse that is now owned by Will and Sharon Mack. This and eight other homes will be featured in Sunday's house tour.

In keeping with this year’s Bicentennial celebration, the Perinton Historical Society is hosting its most extensive house tour yet.

The tour will take guests on a walk-through of nine homes on West Church Street in the village of Fairport (including house numbers 17, 48, 84, 88, 116, 117, 128, 100 and140). At least six of these homes are designated historical landmarks.

“We wanted to epitomize Fairport, which is part of Perinton’s Bicentennial celebration,” said event chair Deborah Mabry, who says she started planning the tour by simply taking a walk down the street to admire the different architectural qualities — from Victorian to Queen Ann, to Colonial Revival, to simple elegant farm houses.

After sending letters to homeowners, many were gracious enough to allow members of the public to visit.

“Meeting the homeowners was just a joy because they’re so honored to live in those homes and be a part of history,” said Mabry.
