On Sunday, July 8, the 23rd annual Pastors for Peace FRIENDSHIPMENT Cuba Caravan will arrive in Rochester to receive and then transport humanitarian aid donations to Cuba. Volunteers and supporters will gather at 57 S. Main St. in Pittsford to pack the truck and celebrate with a potluck supper.

The donations are made possible by contributions collected by the Rochester Committee on Latin America, ROCLA. Included are $2,000-worth of children’s asthma medicine, as well as orthopedic equipment and special pediatric wheelchairs. Several trucks of the caravan will cover North America, eventually delivering the aid to the Ecumenical Council of Cuba.

Since 1992, Rochester-area residents have collected medical and educational materials and shipped them to Cuba.

ROCLA members and supporters will be loading the truck at 4 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., Fr. Luis Barrios, who is traveling with the caravan, will speak to volunteers.  Fr. Barrios is the associate priest at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in West Harlem.
