HOMETOWN Roxboro, N.C.

CLASS NASCAR Nationwide Series and Camping World Trucks Series

YEARS RACING 27

BEGINNING Driving a VW Beetle in the Mini Stock class at South Boston Speedway in Virginia in 1983.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT Qualifying in 2000 for his very first NASCAR Cup race, the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, Long gave the ride over to a non-qualifying Darrell Waltrip, who was on his last-season “Darrell Waltrip 2000 Victory Tour.”

“It was Darrell’s last time at Charlotte, so we gave up car and position to him,” Long remembers.

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT “My barrel roll in 2004 down the backstretch at Rockingham, during ‘the last race at the Rock,’” Long answered without thinking twice. The film of the multiple barrel roll was an Internet hit and still is on YouTube.

CREW CHIEF Morris Van Vleet

CREW “Basically it’s just Craig (car owner Craig Partee) Morris and myself and anybody else that we can grab from one of the other teams,” says Long.

SPONSORS “Fleur-De-Lis Motorsports, Fleur-De-Lis Farms (of Seneca Falls) and anybody else interested.”
