Fairport Savings Bank is seeking applicants for its 2012 Legacy Scholarship program.

All high school seniors who reside in Irondequoit, Penfield, Perinton, Fairport or Webster are eligible to apply. Applications are available at all Fairport Savings Bank branches, or online at www.fairportsavingsbank.com. Applications are due March 31.

The Fairport Savings Bank Legacy Scholarship recognizes high school students who demonstrate the desire and ability to make a difference in their communities. Four awards of $1,000 each will be given to students who express a commitment to service and carrying on the tradition of service in the future.

Applicants must demonstrate commitment to community service through volunteer activities, maintain at least a B average, and present recommendations from a school administrator and a community service representative. Students must also prove that they intend to attend college upon graduation from high school or pursue a full-time community service commitment, such as the Peace Corps.

According to Dana C. Gavenda, president and CEO of Fairport Savings Bank, the bank has been involved in community volunteer efforts for more than 120 years. "We seek to inspire and reward the volunteer spirit in young people," Gavenda says. "We have continually been impressed by the caliber of students that apply, and we greatly anticipate receiving this year's applications."
