Opening day festivities will include a preview of historic fashions from the 1800s, a quilting bee at Jones Farm and petticoat tails tastings of shortbread snacks.
On Mother's Day, May 13, all mothers will be admitted for free. The "Voices of the Village" presentation will also focus on women's perspectives with "Tales of a Midwife," "Mentioning the Unmentionables," "Re-designing Women" and "Mother Dearest," featuring letters from Rebecca and Wealtha Backus, who lived in the village's Livingston-Backus mansion.
Mothers can also enjoy Victorian tea for $5 per person. Tea includes American Heritage chocolate tastings, 19th-century card-making activities, a choral concert by the Genesee Harmonic Society, 19th-century dancing and plenty of lawn and table games.
The museum's Depot restaurant will be open all weekend.
Tickets for the village and museum are $16.50 for adults, $10.50 for youth ages 4-16 and $13.50 for seniors. Regular visitor hours from May 14 to Sept. 3 run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends and holidays. The park is closed Mondays except May 28 and Sept. 3.
