Fairport resident re-enlists with New York Army National Guard

1st Sgt. Daniel Markle, of Fairport, recently re-enlisted to continue service in the New York Army National Guard.

Markle serves with the Company A, 2-108th Infantry.

“New Yorkers count on our citizen soldiers to be ready and be there when disaster strikes,” Maj. Gen. Anthony German said. “I congratulate our members for choosing to stay in service and striking that balance between military duties, education or employment commitments and family obligations.”

Fairport resident joins Allendale Columbia School

Margarita Chaves, of Fairport, recently joined Allendale Columbia School as a Lower School Spanish teacher.

She will be responsible for teaching Spanish for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. She has been teaching for 13 years and has experience in both public school and international teaching. She recently was a kindergarten English as a second language teacher in Cartagena, Colombia, and taught first grade at the American School Foundation in Mexico City.

Chaves earned her master’s in bilingual and multicultural education from Northern Arizona University.

Danielle Lorenzo named Edge Advertising Group PR specialist
Danielle Lorenzo recently joined Edge Advertising Group as a public relations specialist.

Lorenzo previously worked with Edge, supporting the PR and social media services departments.

“Danielle’s ability to communicate and lead in face-to-face engagements with the media is a major asset for our Edge Advertising Group clients,” John Rabish, Edge Advertising co-partner stated.

Lorenzo earned a degree in journalism with a minor in writing from SUNY Fredonia.

Prior to joining Edge, Lorenzo worked with Paychex and Johnson Controls. She also has videography experience through the Fredonia State Sports Department, Equalizer Soccer website for the Western New York Flash, and WGR sports radio.
