Monroe County Clerk Adam Bello and justices Craig Doran and Matthew Rosenbaum recently announced a partnership with the New York State Supreme Court’s 7th Judicial District to allow the filing of most court documents electronically.
“Since becoming county clerk, improving customer service has been one of my top priorities,” Bello said. “Taking advantage of new technology and applying e-filing will decrease customer wait times in the clerk’s office, enhance accessibility for filing court documents and improve public access to information.”
Local attorneys were provided with continuing legal education seminars in preparation for e-filing, and Surrogate’s Court in the 7th Judicial District has been successfully e-filing since 2010. Many attorneys based in Monroe County are familiar with the process, as other surrounding counties have been using e-filing for years.
Most civil filings will be accepted electronically with the exception of CPLR Articles 70 and 78 proceedings, election law, matrimonial matters, mental hygiene law and residential foreclosure actions as defined by RPAPL Section 1304.
