The Wayne County Humane Society will hold its 14th annual Sweetheart Auction at noon Jan. 29 at Palmyra VFW Memorial Post, 4306 state Route 31, Palmyra.

WCHS has partnered with Charity Fundraising to auction celebrity items. One item up for auction is a Dallas Cowboys helmet signed by Tony Romo, Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jason Witten, Dez Bryant, DeMarco Murray, Charles Haley and Tony Dorsett.

Other items include a signed Arnold Palmer photo, a signed Dale Earnhardt Jr. photo and a Snoopy sketch signed by Charles Schulz. A Buffalo Sabres hockey puck signed by Ryan O’Reilly will be up for auction.

A “Star Wars” cast movie poster will be available this year, featuring signatures from Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, David Prowse, James Earl Jones, director George Lucas and composer John Williams.

“We are truly excited this year to have many exceptional items,” said Mark Plyter, executive director of WCHS. “The Humane Society of Wayne County receives no government funding. Our operating budget comes from donations, fundraising and our fees for service, Without help, we would not be able to make a positive difference in the lives of people and pets.”

Additional auction items include artwork, jewelry, a Laurel Burch panel, a sparkling wine and chocolate basket, food items, pet items, a golf package, gift baskets and vintage Barbie dolls.

“All the proceeds from our auction benefit the animals of Wayne County,” said Stephanie Cooper, president of WCHS’s board of directors. “Bid high and bid often.”

The auction viewing starts at noon, with silent bidding starting to close at 12:30 p.m. Additional auction sections will close every 30 minutes until the live auction at 2 p.m. Some items have reserve bidding. Raffles will be held throughout the afternoon.

Admission to the auction is free, and a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres will be available.
