Axom Gallery and Exhibition Space, 176 Anderson Ave., Rochester, will open its exhibit, “In the Forest” by artist Kurt Moyer, with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 3.
Moyer, of Rochester, continues to explore his personal vision in the exhibit through landscape and figurative painting while embracing inspiration from Paul Cezanne and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot.
He places emphasis on light, color mood and a sense of place. His pursuit of these elements in the plein air tradition of working on location contributes to his success.
His paintings are characterized by a coloring mixing and application that depicts patterns of dappling sunlight and cool shadows.
The exhibit will run through March 25. Axom Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
