Lisa Hoyt will continue the free Tuesday Topics series with “Refugees in Rochester” from 12:12 to 12:52 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County, 115 South Ave., Rochester.
Hoyt, director of refugee, immigration and language services at Catholic Family Center, will discuss the nation’s struggle to agree on how to assist refugees fleeing war-torn areas of the world, often arriving with serious health risks, economic difficulties and mental health strain.
She will share what determines how wide a country will open their borders in a resource-limited world. Catholic Family Center has helped over 15,000 refugees resettle in Rochester.
Attendees can bring their lunch or purchase food from the library’s Starry Nites Cafe.
