Members of Knights of Columbus Council 15471, a ministry of St. Joseph’s Church in Penfield, presented checks of $500 each to three Penfield organizations at their Feb. 8 membership meeting.
The funds were from proceeds of the annual pizza night held November 2016.
Grand Knight Jim Hopper and Council Officer Ross Giardino, who coordinated the pizza event, presented checks to Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf, St. Joseph School and the St. Joseph Church Tanzania Action Team, a parish ministry that supports the education of poverty-stricken girls in Africa.
“We are proud to be able to support the work of these wonderful organizations who do so much good,” Giardino said. “The Knights exist to serve and to help others.”
“The donations,” Hopper said, “were made not only in the name of Council 15471 but the local pizzerias whose own generous donations of pizza made the event possible: All-Star, Cam’s, Guida’s, Mark’s, Salvatore’s in Penfield and TK’s Pizzeria in Fairport. We are also very grateful to the parish and larger Penfield community which supported this popular event.”
