Rochester City Ballet will perform “Summer of Love” at 7:30 p.m. April 20, 8 p.m. April 21-22 and 2 p.m. April 23 at Rochester Auditorium Theatre, 885 E. Main St.
The show will celebrate the summer and hits of 1967. Music selections include The Mamas & The Papas, Cat Stevens, The Byrds, The Animals, The Zombies and the musical “Hair.”
RCB had the opportunity to create an original concept when talking with the licensing company about its orginal idea — “Spectrum,” a Pink Floyd spectacle. The company had worked with RCB on 2016’s David Bowie ballet, so it suggested bands for RCB to consider. A Pink Floyd ballet is planned for a future concert.
“This is such a unique ballet we’ll be presenting to Rochester,” said David Palmer, artistic director. “The music is so familiar to our audiences, but the choreography and performances are sure to leave a lasting impression.”
RCB will host a public preview April 8 at the RCB Ballet Studio, 1326 University Ave., Rochester.
Tickets start at $23.
