LETTER: Letter blunted effectiveness by raising non-issues

The letter from Robert Ament criticizing the leadership of the West Irondequoit school system (April 19) was within the bounds of acceptance when he complained about his view that the budget spent too much money. However, the letter crossed the line when the writer basically assassinated the superintendent's character and education.

Scoffing at degrees from Brockport and leaving out a doctorate from the University of Rochester for Dr. Crane are beyond mere opinion. This is an outright gross distortion and belittlement. Why lose the focus of your point by bringing in some kind of personal vendetta? I am surprised that the newspaper allowed this. Teaching physical education, having three degrees, and being responsible for a school district are not negatives.

While budget mismanagement is a negative, I would rather focus on that than the non-issues Mr. Ament brought up. Another view on the budget would be welcomed.
