Casa Larga Vineyards has announced that they will begin offering tours and tastings for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The program will be led by Casa Larga Vineyards employee Nicole Hood.
Hood moved to Rochester from Concord, N.H. in 2006 to attend Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf in pursuit of her associate degree in graphic design and Performing Arts Certification. She first heard about the winery while at RIT and attended a tour and tasting.
It was Hood who came up with the idea for offering this service. This program is a way for members of the deaf community to be able to participate in wine tours and tastings and have direct communication with a staff member.
The winery is also installing a video phone to handle reservations for the tours and tastings. Those interested in booking can email Nicole Hood at nmhoodgraphics@gmail.com.
