Frankly I don't want to hear about Congel’s second proposal until I see the first proposal completed.
He is back. You guessed it, it is Scott Congel — only this time he is proposing a $700 million project funded by, you guessed it, the taxpayers’ money.
It is time to ask Scott, “Where have you been for the last three years, baby?” For the last three years Mr. Congel was supposed to be working on a $250 million multi-use facility. During this time we have reduced his property taxes and school taxes to help him with construction costs. Just what has Mr. Congel done in the last three years? Well, he moved to Colorado, he lost his financing and he has yet to put the first shovel in the ground. In a word, Mr Congel has done “NOTHING.”
For the last three years Mr. Congel has been in his hideout high in the Colorado Mountains. Scott has not been seen in these parts for nearly three years. Congel refuses to answer phone messages, email or letters from local officials seeking some signs of progress.
Scott Congel has been unable to borrow money for his original $250 million proposal. Now he has a new idea, a $750 million proposal. Only this time he wants to divert taxpayer sales tax money into his pocket to pay for the project. This time lets hope the East Irondequoit School District, the Town of Irondequoit and County of Monroe have enough good judgement to walk away from Mr. Congel’s latest scheme. Lets spend our time clawing back the taxpayers’ money we have already extended to him. Frankly, the guy has no credibility, no integrity and no track record of successful development in Monroe County.
Frankly I don't want to hear about Congel’s second proposal until I see the first proposal completed. I should be able to see the 30-story hotel from my back yard, right?
